Memorable Trees of the Ústí Region

Another publication released by the Regional Museum and Gallery in Most, supported by the Ústí Region. This is the first comprehensive treatment of the topic of particularly significant trees in the region. The publication presents the life of memorable trees, their threats, protection issues, and their future in the Ústí Region. Information is provided about approximately one-third of the 420 protected memorable trees, their groups, and tree avenues in this region. Some extraordinary, currently unprotected, or already extinct memorable trees are also described. For each of the seven districts of this region (Děčín, Chomutov, Litoměřice, Louny, Most, Teplice, and Ústí nad Labem), the most significant memorable trees are mentioned. The text is complemented by a full hundred photographs and a comprehensive overview of the literature. The author of the book is botanist and dendrologist Vít Joza, curator of the botanical collection of the Regional Museum and Gallery in Most. The Ústí Region has been rich in memorable trees since ancient times, and it still is. Returns of Borrowed Landscape

A completely exceptional book by Stanislav Štýs, an expert on reclamation after brown coal mining. It weighs four kilograms, has 368 pages, and depicts the transformations of mining areas in the Ústí Region over the last several decades. The admirable photographic publication by Stanislav Štýs is a profile of the Ústí Region from Kadaň to Ústí. In it, the author evaluated seventy years of work, during which he took tens of thousands of photos. He specializes in so-called twins - these are images showing the landscape before and after reclamation, as well as during its transformation. The price of this extraordinary and luxurious book is 1,500 CZK.
