The exhibition presentation LIBERATION 1945 - FINALLY PEACE! was organized by the Ústí Region and prepared by the Museum of the City of Ústí nad Labem.The project aims to familiarize the public with the dramatic events of the spring of 1945 in the territory of today's Ústí Region.
The exhibition is prepared in cooperation with local archives, museums, memorials, and private individuals.
The authors summarize primarily the events of the months of April and May 1945, which were the most dramatic in our territory. Air warfare, death marches, the last days of the Nazi regime, the Prague operation of the Soviet Army and other Allied forces in our territory in May 1945, as well as individual stories of the liberation of various regions of today's Ústí Region are the themes of individual chapters.
However, the war events did not end with the capitulation of Nazi Germany on the night of May 8 to 9, but also had repercussions in acts of revenge against collaborators and traitors, in an atmosphere full of violence and uncertainty. The exhibition presentation is also prepared on these complex themes of everyday life in the first days of peace.
