The Battle of Most in 1421 is one of the most important events in the history of the city. It was strongly reflected in legends, traditions, and even in the spiritual life of the inhabitants of Most until the 20th century.
The historical significance of this event within the context of the Hussite period of Czech history is comparable to the battles at Sudoměř (1420), Vítkov (1420), Domažlice (1431), and Lipany (1434). Its importance is further emphasized by the fact that it was not a victory of one of the Hussite leagues, but rather the greatest Hussite defeat in the 1420s. The city of Most was indeed one of the strongholds of the Catholic side in the Kingdom of Bohemia and was in close contact with Saxony, under whose rule it effectively fell.
