THREE 5 HALER COINS

MEMORIAL OF THE RELOCATION OF THE CHURCH OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE VIRGIN MARY IN MOST

This is a collection of three 5-haler coins from the years 1973-1974, minted at the State Mint in Kremnica. These coins, a gift from Mr. Jaromír Lavička, were intentionally deformed by placing them on the tracks under the carts used to relocate the Dean's Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Most.
The Church of the Virgin Mary was relocated according to government resolution no. 612 from November 18, 1964, "On the Preservation of the Dean's Church in Most." After evaluating many solutions for its relocation, the option of moving the church as a whole was chosen, using special carts and tracks.
The actual relocation began on September 30, 1975. The entire church was moved 841.1 meters at an average speed of 2.8 centimeters per minute. The entire relocation took 500 hours and 1 minute, and it settled in its new location on October 27, 1975.
The relocation of the church was an event closely followed by the general public. As part of the interest in the relocation, a number of these "commemorative" coins of various denominations were also created through private initiative.
