This is an author exhibition by Pavel Krásenský, who has been actively engaged in scientific illustration and photography for 20 years. His illustrations and photographs appear in a number of Czech and also foreign magazines or books. He primarily focuses on pen drawing and so-called stacked macro photography, which has a long tradition in entomology.
No scientific or popular science publication can do without quality visual material. This is literally true in entomology. And it is precisely for these purposes that scientific illustrations and photographs are used, which very accurately describe a specific animal or plant species. They capture its actual features, dimensions, distribution of hairs, or even the shape and structure of reproductive organs.
The exhibition will be divided into two parts: the part on scientific illustration and scientific photography. In the illustration section, both sketches and final illustrations will be presented. A significant portion of the exhibition will be dedicated to sketches, as they are an important foundation for quality and, above all, accurate scientific illustration. Some illustrations will be accompanied by the insect species that served as a model. In the scientific photography section, there will be both the scientific photographs themselves and the photographed insects. The process of how scientific photography is created will also be explained, what tools are needed for it, and what the author must do before the photographs appear in any publication.
The entire exhibition will be supplemented with scientific publications and other printed materials in which the author's drawings and illustrations have appeared. The process of creating illustrated drawings will also be briefly mentioned, including the tools and tricks that help the author achieve the best and most accurate results.
The exhibition will be arranged in clip frames (sketches, final drawings, photographs) as well as in showcases, where publications, prepared insects, and tools for illustrating (pens, graph paper, insect mounting holders, etc.) will be on display.
