Presentation of the Jewelry Set by Ulrika von Levetzow - Press Release
On March 14, 2019, a presentation of the newly restored jewelry set by Ulrika von Levetzow will take place in the building of the Regional Museum and Gallery in Most. This remarkable complete collection is, according to a new expert analysis, one of the rarest jewelry works in the Czech Republic. According to newly proven gemological expertise, it is the largest world-renowned collection of Czech garnets, which includes the largest known cut Czech garnet in the world. The jewelry itself is among the 10 most valuable pieces of jewelry work in the entire Czech Republic.
The significance of this jewelry set is further enhanced by its history, which is linked to the person of Ulrika von Levetzow. She is world-famous as the last love and muse of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The story of the unfulfilled and unreciprocated love of the aging poet is among the greatest love stories in European history. Ulrika von Levetzow, along with her stepfather and the commissioner of the jewelry, František Josef of Klebelsberg, was also among the founders of the Patriotic, later National Museum.
