“Krušnohoří / Erzgebirge - Art of the Late Middle Ages”
The traveling panel exhibition organized by the Ústí Region in cooperation with the Regional Museum and Gallery in Most, titled “Krušnohoří / Erzgebirge - Art of the Late Middle Ages,” presents the results of the project Art of the Late Middle Ages in the mining area of Krušnohoří, funded by the Program for the Support of Cross-Border Cooperation between the Czech Republic and the Free State of Saxony 2014–2020. The exhibition showcases the artistic development of the Czech-Saxon border region during the peak of Krušnohoří mining. The movable border here did not hinder intense cultural exchange, which practically disappears in the field of visual arts. The cultural and economic connection between the Czech and Saxon sides of the border mountains thus illustrates the significance of a united Europe and a common European space.
The exhibition is dedicated to the presentation of five works of art and the results of the work of restorers and the ALMA AVU laboratory during material research. Three of the five works come from the collection of the Regional Museum and Gallery in Most and are now part of the permanent exhibition Treasures of Visual Art from Most.
The project was implemented between 2018 and 2021 in the interest of protecting and caring for the works of art located in the collections of the Ústí Region. The project partners included the Ústí Region, Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Dresden, and the Regional Museum and Gallery in Most.
The exhibition at OMGM will last from December 7, 2023, to February 7, 2024.
