International Day of Archaeology 2021

DetailInternational Day of Archaeology 2021

On Saturday, October 16, 2021, the fifth International Day of Archaeology (MDA) took place. The main part of the program focused on the Middle Ages - 600 years back in time, when the Prague Hussite Union besieged the town of Most and the Hněvín Castle, thanks to the Civitas Pragensis association. Visitors could meet the inhabitants of medieval Prague, Most, and the warriors of the Prague Hussite community. A part of the program was dedicated to the Bronze Age and experimental archaeology - the production of a replica of a prehistoric boat called a monoxyl, using only technologies from the Bronze Age. Both small and large visitors could try out an early medieval hand mill and bake a "snake" from dough made from their own ground flour, as well as create their own prehistoric or early medieval jewelry. The youngest visitors could build a small replica of a Slavic village and learn more about the building techniques and living conditions of our ancestors.
