The discussion on tiled stoves took place in Most in an international context
The Ústí Region has long been striving to support international scientific cooperation in the field of museum institutions and the care of cultural heritage. Therefore, on April 19 and 20, it organized an international conference titled Tiled Stoves and Tiling at the Regional Museum in Most. Ms. Jitka Sachetová, a member of the Ústí Region Council for Culture and Heritage Care, stated in her greeting: “Tiled stoves evoke a warm feeling of comfort and peace in a person. For many of you, however, they are objects of scientific interest and education. Our region still has great research potential, and I hope that thanks to the beautiful exhibition, catalog, and this conference, it will continue to develop positively on an international scale.”
The conference was the main accompanying event organized as part of the regional exhibition The World of Tiled Stoves, which can be visited at the Most Museum until May 31, 2018.
At the conference, eleven presentations were delivered, focusing on the issues of tiled stoves and stove tiles from the perspectives of archaeologists, art historians, and restorers. Contributions were presented by experts not only from the Czech Republic but also from Germany, Switzerland, and Poland. Among the seventy listeners were representatives from Hungary. The chairman of the Committee for Culture and Heritage Care of the Ústí Region Assembly, Mr. Jaroslav Dubský, also did not miss the conference.
The conference organized by the Ústí Region and the Saxon State Office for Archaeology took place under the auspices of the Small Project Fund of the Euroregion Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří, a cross-border cooperation program between the Czech Republic and the Free State of Saxony.
